Global Warming Mullah Proposes Putting Heretics On Trial

June 22nd, 2008 · No Comments

James Hansen, one of the world’s leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.

Didn’t we give up burning blasphemers at the stake awhile ago?  Doesn’t this kind of science-by-lawyer give us “facts” like the Earth being in the center of the universe?

Of course, this kind of thing could be done in no American court.  The desired verdict would require a total departure from minor inconveniences we normally take for granted, like the presumption of innocence, rules of evidence, jurisdiction, a plaintiff with standing to sue…  But a good old fashioned show trial – I’m sure the Canadian Human Rights Commission is available, now that they’re done persecuting Mark Steyn.

If the science of global warming was conclusive, no such threat would be necessary.  The fact that the eco-fascists have resorted to this sort of nonesense really says it all about how flimsy the case for anthropogenic global warming really is.

As is always the case, the best way to bring out the truth is to shed light, not heat, on those you think are wrong.  The side that cries for censorship is not the one who cares for your freedom.
