In search of the Unified Theory of Conservatism

Thanks for Nothing, Jerk

Yeah – I’m talking to you, Guy Who Rammed His Car Into the Planned Parenthood Clinic.  Good work.  You just helped make sure your cause is stunted for about another decade.  If you think the unborn are lives worth saving as I do, you just did your part to ensure a lot more of them are killed.  Nice job, jerk.

And from the wider world of conservativism, we just want to say how much we appreciate you giving the left a nice albatross to hang around our neck, to discredit our entire movement.  “You want lower taxes?  What – are you one of them EXTREMISTS who drives cars into ABORTION CLINICS?!”  You just put one more layer of smug on Bill Maher.  For that alone you deserve an extra year in the big house.

And it’s not just us Americans.  Around the world just in the last week, Jihadists killed 154 and critically injured 244 more.  But now, because the left is apt to lump you in with those guys and therefore throw up their hands and say, “See?  There are haters in every religion!  There’s nothing we can do about it, and it’s really not that big a deal.”  In other words, you just gave another excuse for the people in power to underestimate the threat to civilization that looms from the predominant religious-political philosophy in the Middle East.

The last time an anti-abortion activist actually killed someone was over ten years ago, but still that gets brought up as the example of Christian religious extremism that is indistinguishable from Islamic religious extremism – just as dangerous, we’re told!  I fell for that, back in the day.  People like me who were on the fence and might have been sympathetic to an argument against abortion now only see some crazy nutjob on a futile kamikaze run whenever the issue comes up.

Plus, and not least, it’s illegal.  And wrong.  Conservatives hold the right to own and enjoy property as a part of the package of fundamental rights the good Lord saw fit to endow us with.  So now, without due process, you’ve decided to take that away from them?  For no gain?  No purpose?  No effect?  “But I meant well!” might play with the hippies who spend lots of money and do more harm than good with their social engineering experiments, but it doesn’t play on this side of the isle.

This is not our style.  If our arguments are right, we don’t need terrorism to back them up.  If they’re wrong, terrorism won’t perpetuate them.

Until Conservatives regain some kind of toehold in pop culture, we don’t have enough margin of error to absorb your idiocy.  We have enough work to do in restoring our image in the public’s mind without dead weight like you.

So while we may share your belief that abortion is wrong, you have no place at our table.  You aren’t helping.  You’re hurting.

I look forward to you sitting in a cell for a long, long time.
