On Deaf Ears investigates a shop dedicated to Obama paraphernalia. Welcome to Austin–People’s Republic Of. A city where Obama-mania has run so amok, there is an entire store devoted to selling Obama merchandise, open until Inauguration Day. Did you think it stopped with commemorative plates? By no means, my naïve friend. By no means. What […]

Hoping For a Lie

Instapundit posted a video of Jon Stewart making fun of Obama’s inagural address as sounding very Bushian. It’s quite funny, and I have to say I’m glad to see Stewart getting the jabs in early. I worry seriously about the Presidency becoming a worshiped personality cult, and a little cynical humor goes a long way […]

A “Servant” to President Obama?
January 19th, 2009 · 5 Comments
Whoa – not in this country. First there are the unsettling Obama/dictator posters. Then came the media slobbering love fest. And now we have a video of a bunch of celebrities literally making public pledges to be Barack Obama’s “servant”. The Obama love-fest keeps getting creepier.

It’s easy. The fact Roland Burris accepted the nomination proves it.

Why Obama’s Economic Stimulus Plan Can’t Work
December 17th, 2008 · 3 Comments
My wife and I work hard to make sure we stay solvent and that we live within our means. But it’s nice to know that we don’t have to quite so diligent. If we ever get into financial trouble due to our own incompetence, overspending, and shortsightedness, I’ve learned from President-Elect Obama that the answer is clear, easy, and win-win.
We’ll just re-model the kitchen.
Spreading the Wealth – At Home
December 2nd, 2008 · Comments Off on Spreading the Wealth – At Home
So Barack Obama is buying Michelle a $30,000 ring for inauguration night. How sweet. I don’t begrudge the man for buying his wife an expensive gift with his own money (assuming it is his money). He created a product (his books) that people were willing to hand over money in exchange for to the tune […]

Piracy – A Simple First Test
November 19th, 2008 · 5 Comments
So it seems that one of President Obama’s first international military crises will be a repeat of one of our nation’s first menaces – piracy on the high seas. How he deals with it will tell us much about the alleged steel in the spine of our mysterious new President-Elect. There is, after all, a […]

A Lifted Burden
November 9th, 2008 · 3 Comments
Other than being irritated by the fair-weather patriots (see my post below), the election of Obama has been somewhat of a relief to me. I’ve been in a better mood, my obsessions and addictions to RCP and Drudge have been lifted (or at least have somewhat abated). It reminds me of an ROTC experience I […]

One Last Pre-Election Blog – The Silver Lining of President Obama
November 3rd, 2008 · 8 Comments
I once believed that, while I didn’t like pretty much any of Barack Obama’s policies, that I would be glad if he was the nominee. If he was elected, he seemed like a guy I could get behind, root for, and like. A guy I’d be happy to be the loyal opposition to. A guy […]

Spreading the Drinks Around
November 2nd, 2008 · 11 Comments
Yesterday I was at a big Nevada Day party in Carson City. Prominent among the attendees were Obama supporters sporting buttons, stickers, shirts, and even facepaint. Every time I saw one of them walked buy with a drink in their hand, I wanted to take it away and drink half.

Obama’s Fundamental Constitutional Misunderstanding
October 27th, 2008 · Comments Off on Obama’s Fundamental Constitutional Misunderstanding
A lot has been already made about Barack Obama’s lament that “economic justice” and “redistribution of wealth” wasn’t a priority for the Warren Court. (I’ve even heard some people call his arguments “conservative” because he suggests that the courts may not be the best places to achieve such re-distribution.) Not enough has been made, to […]

Fake Voting – Already Underway?
October 19th, 2008 · 2 Comments
It’s begun: Likely among them are the 12 people who have registered to vote since August using the address of the 1,175-square-foot Brownlee Avenue house. Some of them already have voted. Others requested absentee ballots but have yet to return them to the Franklin County Board of Elections. None of them, however, seems to have […]

Don’t Blame Race
October 19th, 2008 · 1 Comment
Sometimes, conservative principles are extolled in the most unlikely of places. Today I found it in The New Republic of all places, urging Obama supporters not to blame racism if he loses. For 40 years, black America has been misled by a claim that we can only be our best with the total eclipse of […]

Liveblogging the Final Debate
October 15th, 2008 · 24 Comments
And that’s it. If McCain pulls this out, he’ll have Joe the Plumber to thank. I think this was by far the best debate, both in format, in McCain’s performance, and in moderator performace. I’m fired back up, but still unsure if a victory is possible at this point. The next few weeks will decide.

What Does Deregulation Have To Do With Anything?
September 30th, 2008 · Comments Off on What Does Deregulation Have To Do With Anything?
Barack Obama constantly talks about how George Bush’s “gutting” of Wall Street regulations (with john McCain’s help) is what is responsible for the current financial mess. I dare him (or anyone else) to name one such gutted regulation that would have helped prevent the current problem in the slightest. Just one!!! Why doesn’t he? Because […]
Treat First, Diagnose Later
September 25th, 2008 · 2 Comments
Obama told the “CBS Evening News” he was not sure what went wrong. Well, that should help him solve this problem and bring Democrats and Republicans together. If you don’t know “what went wrong,” how do you expect to make it right?!?
