Liveblogging the State of the Union

Well, no big surprises.  He made the same promises that he made a year ago, and the only difference is that now we can be even more sure he won’t keep any of them.
The big takeaway from me on this was just how unserious this speech was.

There Are Goals, and Then There Are Goals

August 26th, 2009 · 6 Comments

I’m greatly amused over the hippy boycott of their former-favorite grocery store, Whole Foods, over WF CEO John Mackey’s Wall Street Journal Op/Ed on health care reform.  Fortunately for all the working stiff WF employees liberals claim to care about, it doesn’t seem to be hurting the company’s bottom line any.
The thing that kills me [...]

From the Reno Tea Party

July 4th, 2009 · 7 Comments

Smacking of Ridiculousness

August 11th, 2008 · 2 Comments

I got a campaign call yesterday from a supporter of local pawn shop manager and proud pit bull owner James Smack, a self-proclaimed “Constitutionalist” running against Dean Heller for his Congressional seat in the Republican primary.  He’s a Ron Paul type, and I’m not, so I politely told his supporter I was voting for the [...]

If the Post-Katrina Madness was Bush’s Fault…

October 25th, 2007 · No Comments

…will liberals give him credit for the “almost festive atmosphere” in Qualcomm Stadium?
Of course not.  And nor should they.
By almost all accounts, the federal-state disaster relief coordination has been far, far better in California than it was in New Orleans.  But was the difference that FEMA and President Bush had learned their lesson?
