You Stay Classy, Governor Huckabee

Before he got trounced in Michigan earlier today, Mike Huckabee was meeting with supporters when:

Confronted by crying toddler on Tuesday, Republican presidential hopeful Mike Huckabee quipped the child must be for his rival Mitt Romney. “He’s not the happiest boy today,” Huckabee said, smiling for a picture with the boy and his brother and sister. “I think he must be a Romney voter. Look at him. He’s so sad.”

Classy.

It’s almost as high brow as when the Arkansan said that Fred Thompson was in need of Metamucil.

I mean, I know politics is a contact sport, and I could care less about Mitt Romney’s feelings being hurt. In the grand scheme of things this is awfully minor. But when you’re running – almost exclusively – as the post-partisan division, “Christian leader,” is it really to much to expect that you show a little humility in the face of impending defeat, and maybe resist the unnecessary low blows? And more troubling, when confronted by tough questions about his liberal record, is that really the best he’s got?

Just sayin’.
