There are three different things that can happen in the next four years that will make me happy as an American. I hope for them in this order:

Liveblogging the Final Debate

And that’s it. If McCain pulls this out, he’ll have Joe the Plumber to thank. I think this was by far the best debate, both in format, in McCain’s performance, and in moderator performace. I’m fired back up, but still unsure if a victory is possible at this point. The next few weeks will decide.

Where’s the Porkbarrel Warrior?
October 2nd, 2008 · 3 Comments
What a disgrace that John McCain voted for the Senate’s bailout version yesterday. The core – the heart and soul – of his domestic economic policy is to oppose wasteful spending, and to give no quarter to those who sneak in absurd and unrelated spending measures that give millions to their constituents and allow the […]

Treat First, Diagnose Later

Obama told the “CBS Evening News” he was not sure what went wrong. Well, that should help him solve this problem and bring Democrats and Republicans together. If you don’t know “what went wrong,” how do you expect to make it right?!?

Courage and Career Choices

Washington Post columnist Richard Cohen posted a particularly mind-numbing article today, angry that Obama isn’t angry or mean enough to counter the unforgivable meanness of Sarah Palin. Military Records – Fair Game

Wesley Clark was an enormous gas bag and a fool the other day when he commented “Well, I don’t think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president.” But the resulting outrage on the right and the flagelation of the left was mostly misplaced, in my view. Wesely […]

“Attacking” the Troops
May 31st, 2008 · 5 Comments
Call this a belated Memorial Day post, but today I saw an opinion item that really irritated me. In the LA Times, Edward Humes, not a veteran himself, attacked John McCain for his correct opposition to an “updated” GI Bill. The headline was, “McCain’s Attack on Vets,” and subheaded, “His respectful rhetoric isn’t matched by […]

McCain on Judges – Can We Trust What He Says?
May 6th, 2008 · 1 Comment
John McCain gave a fantastic speech today on judges, surrounded by conservative legal stalwarts like Ted Olson and Fred Thompson. It was music to the ears of anyone who believes that, when it comes to protecting the sovereignty of the individual, there is no more important issue in a presidential election than picking the right […]
