Four More Years!!

January 19th, 2009 · 1 Comment

No, it’s not a reelection cheer.  It’s the countdown to certain DOOOOOOOM!!!!

So says NASA’s Jim “I Don’t Check My Math” Hansen:

Only the US now had the political muscle to lead the world and halt the rise, Hansen said. Having refused to recognise that global warming posed any risk at all over the past eight years, the US now had to take a lead as the world’s greatest carbon emitter and the planet’s largest economy. Cap-and-trade schemes, in which emission permits are bought and sold, have failed, he said, and must now be replaced by a carbon tax that will imposed on all producers of fossil fuels. At the same time, there must be a moratorium on new power plants that burn coal – the world’s worst carbon emitter.

Since I doubt even Barack Obama will impose a carbon tax on every single emiter of greenhouse gases (who else would cater his lavish celebrations of himself?), and I know China and India don’t plan on preventing their own economic rise by starving themselves of energy, Obama’s “leadership” or no, this means that our demise is certain in just four short years.

Assuming every single one of Hansen’s pleas for urgent action aren’t heeded, I hereby demand that all global warming considerations in public policy be banned by January 20, 2013.  After all – there’s no reason to spend money to fix a problem that can’t be fixed.

But if folks just can’t bring themselves to let go of the need to spend money on global warming, can we at least all agree to ignore Jim Hansen from here on out?
